I love this mission!!!!!!!!!! Seriously it is so awesome that we do as much service as we do!! This week we got to go do AWESOME service at the “Village Project”! So we moved sand, made raised beds/boxes and filled them with dirt from Dole! The hardest part was moving the sand soooo basically we frolicked around and I felt like I was out in the arena again playing in the sand 🙂 haha it is super hard to garden here because of the sand, but if you make rockin raised beds it takes that prob out of the pic haha so we leveled the sand bed part (sorry i should have taken pics!) and then the backo moved all of the sand over to the other side of the fence. Lots of shoveling but it was so fun! Needless to say I was ultra sore the next day for church! We met a bunch of really awesome people there, Derrick Williams a pastor for this baptist church in Seaside who also wrote a book (super awesome guy) He is hilarious! There were a bunch of students from CSUMB, a college in the bay area, there too and we talked to a bunch of them and invited them to the YSA bonfire that we were having that night. The bonfire was great some of the girls that came also came to church the next day and will be at our other activities. 🙂 super solid. I love our YSA ward! – finding through service!! 🙂
We also had quite a few really amazing miracles with finding less actives. This week we found the Mabini family. They are both converts, but 10 years ago went less active for various reasons. When we first knocked and asked if we could come back they were super unsure, but when we visited them the second time to find out where they were at and set up our next appointment the spirit was so strong. They have 2 girls. An 11 year old and a 7 amost 8 year old daughter who don’t know anything about the church!! YES!! Families!!! 🙂 We invited them to church, but they didn’t come so next time we are going to get our RS pres to come with us and fellowship them so they will feel super welcome. They are awesome 🙂 another miracle! Last week we were contacting on Cannery Row. As we were handing out pass-a-long cards, we missed a man who was working (normally we don’t contact people who are working) but after we had walked a little further down the street I stopped, and looked back at him. I felt like I should talk to him, It wasn’t a big impression, just a little nudge. I turned back and started to talk to him, we asked him how he was and he began to cry because of the obvious pain in his eyes. As we talked to him and he shared how he was struggling to get on top and how his wife was in and out of the hospital and how he was doing all he could to be a good man but it is so hard when so many dishonest people are getting what they want. We testified of hope through the Atonement and the peace of the Savior and how as we follow Him we will feel of that in our lives. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and left him with one as well as some scriptures. It was so awesome. 🙂 I love being a representative of Jesus Christ. He is the champion of Hope and Peace.
We also met with our Ward Mission Leader and our Bishop yesterday. We have not been working together as much as we can, and it was really great to figure out how as a ward we can be united in sharing the gospel through example! It is interesting how people in California’s perspective of the Church has been influenced by Prop 8. A great hurdle, but it is overcome by loving example! Dad, did you ever work with a ward mission leader?
The work is hastening!! I want to get on that train and ride it with the Lord as we work and give our hearts to the salvation of His children!!! 🙂 “Ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.” Having that bright hope is the best ever!!! I love it!! I love the Gospel 🙂
Keep up the Good work fam!! I love you all!!
I pray for you and talk about you all the time!! You are my heros!! Keep feasting upon the word!! I love you!!!!!!
