Alex's baptism

Alex’s baptism

1-20-2014 with the districtΒ What a great week! Transfer calls were this week! I am leaving my dear Monterey. Crazy stuff. I am so grateful for the time that I have had here. I have made life long friends and been so blessed by the Lord. This week we have seen incredible miracles. We had and exchange with our STL sister Mason who came down and worked with Sis. Jarrett and I for half a day. We went contacting with her and man. It was so awesome to learn how to contact in other ways. Sharing what we have with love and purpose is the best way! It was good to see how I had gotten distracted from the real purpose of contacting and got into a routine. Testifying of doctrine and inviting is the best. I am not the one who can judge whether they need to hear about temples and what happens within or more about the atonement. Being afraid of big doctrine lessens my ability to be guided by the Spirit. We saw this when sis. Mason sat down and started talking to Nasean. She testified and invited him to be baptized for himself and for his family. He set a date with her and now we are teaching him. So incredible! Miracles follow faith!! πŸ™‚

This weekend we were invited by our stake president to participate in an area wide fast next fast Sunday. California is in a drought and they asked the first presidency to allow the mid California area to fast together. Permission was given, and I am SO excited to see the miracles follow the faith and action of the saints of California. πŸ™‚ My testimony of fasting was strengthened SO much because of my mission. Fasting shows our commitment to focus on the Lord, and tune into the Spirit. It is an act of faith and miracles follow as we trust and are purpose driven rather than going without food! So cool!

We met with Nasean on wednesday. We started teaching about the restoration when some homeless guys came up and started ragging on the church. One of them worse than the other. The one pulled the other away and they left. As we began teaching again (praying my guts out for the spirit) it got much better. We talked to him about his baptisim, and about his questions. and the spirit was so strong. haha Before we left we said invited him to say a prayer. He said “Oh ya! Let’s get our prayer on!” – so awesome. Miracles happen because of faith πŸ™‚

I am so grateful for our Savior. He knows each of us. I am so grateful that because of his love, he has restored his power here through his prophet Joseph Smith. I love this work. It is so hard, but hard is hard, not bad. πŸ™‚ I love working to help others feel of his peace. I am so grateful for the scriptures. They bring a light and love to life that comes no other way! πŸ™‚

I love you and pray for you always!

Sister Stegelmeier

California girl! hehe

I love the Doctrine and Covenants!

SO many times in D&C it says “I am with thee” and talks about how the Lord goes with us, beside, us, and before us. This week I have for sure been able to feel that. Man! We picked up another sister one from temple square on her out bound, and her name is Sister Jarrett. She is from Hawaii! She has the MOST tender heart. For sure a white. She totally goes perfect with Sis. Neff and I. haha both super red, and very yellow. Love trios. They are good.

It is crazy to think that I will be leaving Monterey in a week! Ah! It has gone SO fast. I love it here, and I am so excited to go where the Lord wants me to go!

We have seen so many miracles this week! So many people coming back to church! One miracle in particular that has been in process for months is a woman named Cheryl. She voulenteers at St. Vincent De Pauls with us on fridays. She is like 60 and has been inactive for 30+ years. Sisters have been voulenteering at St Vincents for nearly a year, maybe more. This last week she finally ended up asking us some questions about church, we invited her to come, set up a ride and she came! It was so wonderful. She loved it, and was instantly fellowshipped. I love our ward! they are SO stellar. πŸ™‚ We also were able to get into contact with Amy this week – our investigator who is so awesome – so ready! She had lost her phone and about gave us a heart attack. haha We also picked up 3 new investigators this week through less actives! Love it. The Lord is preparing the people of this area! We just need to thrust our sickle in!!

I love working with Sister Neff. She is such a great missionary! πŸ™‚ This week the theme was “there is no growth in the comfort zone, and no comfort in the growth zone” So true. Stretching is where real growth happens. I love seeing how the Lord has changed the way I do things. Slowly but surely!

I love you!!

New year? Oh yeah!

Thank you all for your emails and support and prayers and love and encouragement!!! I am so so grateful for each of you! I hope you liked the chocolate πŸ˜‰ – best idea ever having a pound plus chocolate bar.. haha talk about a good time!

This week has been awesome!!! Alex is getting baptized!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finding and fellowshipping and working through members is the BEST!!! it is the most effective way to do missionary work. Building trust and friendships is a Β huge way the Lord prepares His children. I love seeing the healing of the atonement come into people’s lives and help them feel His incredible love! Β Alex is friends with Bishop stewart’s family. She went up to the temple with them, and is staying in their house right now. She is so amazing!

We are so happy to have all of our military and military families back! The break was kinda hard because so many people left for Christmas, so we are way excited to be back on track! We have been super blessed by the Lord to find multiple less actives and start meeting with them. The work of the Rescue is miraculous. These people who may have forgotten the peace of the atonement in their lives have really missed it. It is incredible to see the light come back, to see people feel the love and belonging that comes! πŸ™‚ I love it. One miracle in particular is with Brittany. She is amazing πŸ™‚ we were visiting a member of our ward, and from across the parking lot she asked “Hey are you Mormons?!” That is always good to hear πŸ™‚ so we ran over and started talking to her πŸ™‚ she has been less active for 4 years, and has a daughter. It is wonderful to see people come back to the fold of God!

I am so glad Crishelle is on a mission too! I wish hers could last longer so she could stay out with me haha or she could just get transferred over here to the west side! haha I love you!! I pray for you!! You are my heros. I am so so grateful for you!

Ok, so double dinners- the death of me. haha I love Pakistani food! We had just come out of dinner when we met with some Pakistani investigators. they had cooked us a full dinner! So of course we had to eat it πŸ™‚ SO good πŸ™‚ we also ran in to a man who was most definitely inebriated. haha we invited him to take our card, and learn more, and he replied ” Hey! You can take a picture of this” pointing to his face, “It is awful good looking” hahaha crazy stuff!

We may get a third companion this Coming week. She would be a Temple Square sister coming out for her in field part of her mission. (trios are not my fav, but it will work out!) We will make it a party!

Love you!!!

Christmas Miracles

I am so so grateful for the blessing and oppurtunity to talk to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man!!! It was so wonderful to talk to you guys!! You are all so so so so so awesome!! πŸ™‚ Anyhew! We have seen some huge miracles this week!!

Diligence is such and important part of the Lord’s work! I learned that this week for sure. When people we contact on the street give us their info and we get back to them quickly the Lord help them to remember the feeling of the Spirit they felt. When members give us referals and we contact them the same thing! When the Lord prompts me to say something, just as President Mower said in my setting apart just GO and DO! πŸ™‚ We visited a referral this week and they have SUCH great faith! They are interested in the church, and the had met with missionaries before, and are waiting for their daughters to come here from Pakistan. There is a lot of unrest there right now for the Christians, but they want to learn more. They are so awesome! – Lesson – go visit people and trust the Lord. He knows their hearts πŸ™‚ he leads and guides them and is preparing them!

I have been studying healing in the scriptures! It has been wonderful! “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 all through the power of the savior “And they were healed by the power of the Lamb of God” 1 Nephi 11:31 Each struggle that we go through the Lord is there strengthening and enabling us to do more than we could before! This has been so so awesome to learn of the Lord’s love for each of His children. I love this work!

Funny story – Contacting this week! haha We began talking to a man who was near our age. We run into people who have no belief in God. So this guy, he was similar, but he started telling us how religion should actually be – not in a church – So we invited him to learn more. He said yes! But then continued telling us about how we have to be in the here and now and going with whatever happens to you. So then he stopped talking. and asked us ” So what do you think about sex” ok. so 2 young girls with tons of people around. asking us this. haha always an adventure. Sister Neff said “what about it!?” Oh so funny so then we told him ah no! Then we taught him the Law of Chasity. πŸ™‚ always an adventure!

New years!!!!!! I love change! This week has been awesome learning how to be more effective, trying to allign my will with my Savior! This year I resolve to look forward! To serve with all of my heart, might, and mind! I want to read the book of mormon in 12 weeks!!! πŸ™‚

You are all amazing!!!

Miracles follow obedience and faith!

Whoohoo!! This week has been so so goood. Wow. I am so grateful for the Lord!!!

Sister Berry went up to Livermore, and Sister Neff, from Oakley, Utah is my new comp!! She is an amazing missionary who LOVES to fulfill her purpose. We were in the MTC together so it was like a dream come true to have her as my companion. She is so obedient and has such great faith. πŸ™‚ Love her! She grew up riding horses on a farm, and is a History major. She went to UVU as well!! Woot woot! I will send you a pick next week! πŸ™‚

This week has been so full of miracles. First, humble pie is my favorite food. I love change, and I love becoming a better missionary! We are striving to balance out our area and work our tails off and bring the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire peninsula!! Second. Nael Jarad! Tuesday night after transfers, we were coming out of an appt when Sis. Neff contacted a man on a bench who was smoking. He is from Jordan and came here 5 months ago with his family. He fled jordan because of the danger that his family was in. We set up a time to come back and In our next appt we miraculously had an arabic book of mormon and gave it to him. He wants so badly to quit smoking and so when we invited him to come to church he asked us if he could leave to have a smoke break. I promised him that if he comes to church the Lord will help him not have a desire to smoke. He came to church, and through all 3 hours didn’t once leave to smoke. Miracles happen as we invite and trust! πŸ™‚

Another miracle is Alex. She is so amazing! πŸ™‚ Abby, a member from our ward invited her up to the temple last weekend, and she came to church as well. We wern’t able to talk to her then but we caught her at our ward Christmas party. We went over last night and taught her the Restoration and invited her to be baptized. She said yes! and we are teaching her again next week! πŸ™‚

Sorry no funny stories! Next week!! I love you!!!

I will give you the details on the Christmas Skype call next week! πŸ™‚ I am SO excited to see your faces and hear your voices!! send me questions and things i can answer pretty please!! I love you!!! You are amazing! I pray for Β you and am cheering you on!! I love you!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart!!

Charity Never Faileth

Whew! This week was challenging but good. We had zone training and got transfer calls and only one of our investigators got back to us, and through it all we were able to learn so much! Zone training was so awesome. I learned how I can more fully trust the Lord, have charity for those we work with, and boldly ask without fear! In Moroni 8:16 He says it so well ” Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and i fear no what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear.” and we are enabled to trust in the Lord! It is truly so powerful. all things must fail in the end except charity. That will carry us through even the hardest trials!

The Lord speaks to us in the language of love, and the way we speak to others shows our love for the Lord. We were able to teach a chinese woman yesterday. The language of the Spirit speaks so much louder than anything else. πŸ™‚ so powerful!

Tomorrow I pick up my new companion! I am so excited for this transfer! We are going to serve with all we have! I love change, although it is hard sometimes! I am going to really miss sister berry we have figured out a really good system. It will be fun to work with another person though! This will techincally be my breaker! Crazy!

Well I love you! I am honored to be serving the Lord and doing his work in this area right now! He is hastening His work! πŸ™‚ Mom and dad! Way to share!! πŸ™‚ Β I know that through the Lord, with His charity and pure love, all things are possible!

I love you!!

Here are some HUGE hugs from me!!!

Making Banana Bread

11-26-2013 beach with sister berry 11-26-2013 pday at the beachI have been studying and contemplating the application and the how to of teaching and being guided by the Spirit. The Lord knows the hearts of everyone and when we earnestly seek to be a tool in His hand and yield to the Spirit it really is so amazing. I had been confused and a little lost at how to teach by the Spirit, but I have SO deeply wanted to be. The Spirit – It was so cool. It was teaching me about teaching with it πŸ™‚ – Β led me to so many amazing scriptures, and amazing doctrines in pmg and finally to a talk that brought it all together. Mom had sent me a talk about the Spirit last month, and I was able to see first hand how the Lord teaches us line upon line, precept upon precept. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to understand as deeply!! πŸ™‚ so awesome πŸ™‚ We receive the Spirit by the prayer of faith. The Spirit comes unto our hearts, but not into them unless we allow Him to enter. He bears witness of the Father and the Son. Anytime we understand anything about them and about the gospel of Christ, it is taught by the Spirit! πŸ™‚ We shall not teach without the Spirit. The Spirit comes and resides when we allow our will to be swallowed up by the will of the Father! πŸ™‚ When we prepare, think, ponder, and be at peace trusting that the Lord does do all that he has promised us, the Spirit is enabled to teach us, and teach those around us. πŸ™‚ This has helped me to really step back and seek to see the way the Lord sees His children!

Ok now to the week! πŸ™‚ haha

We had so much fun at the service project on monday and tuesday!! SO many people came! there were aprox. 1500 bags given out i think… And that many turkeys were brought down from utah by the church! It was so awesome to see the Joy on people’s faces as they picked up their bags! πŸ™‚ It was also so awesome to have Amy there πŸ™‚ she is so stellar πŸ™‚ Β On Wednesday there was a big prep at the fairgrounds for the thanksgiving dinner thing they do every year for the homeless so we went to it and cut SO many potatoes! πŸ™‚ it was so awesome! After we cut the potatoes, they brought in onions. I have never been so affected. haha Sister Berry and I were crying our eyes out!!! Β There were like 10 garbage cans full (covered by plastic no worries) of carrots, potatoes, onions, and celery!! We were able to talk to Trish, a woman who up and moved over here from Massachusetts! We hopefully will meet with her this week! She is so prepared and so full of faith!

Miracle with the Mabini’s!! This week we met with them again and followed up on the challenge to pray as a family and read the scriptures we left them. They had!!! and they had the most awesome expierence from it!! They had read, and prayed, and were deciding about a big financial decision they were making. as they read the scrpiptures we left them, they found their answer! Oh man. It was so amazing. Using the Book of Mormon in our teaching is so powerful. Reading it every day does miracles in peoples lives. I know it is the word of God. I know that the Spirit teaches us as we open the pages of this inspired book! πŸ™‚

I love you all so much!!! I am so grateful for you!! Β I love this work. I love this area!! Sadly we think sister berry is going to be transfered next week… 😦 She is so amazing. I love her πŸ™‚ I love being her companion and I love working here in monterey!!! Hopefully I will never leave! haha Change is amazing, but man I love it here!

Funny story this week! So we were given the most amazing pie by one of our members! (the best pumpkin pie i’ve ever had, but it is almost as good as all of your pies mom, not quite as good but almost!) With it she gave us whipped cream! The squirty kind. Of course sister berry and I played the whipped cream game last night! We will try to send you some vid and pics of it next week! So fun!

I love you!! Have a stellar week fam!! Good luck with mom and dad being gone!! Have so much fun on the cruise mom and dad!! send pics!!! – take the underwater camera!! I love you!!!
