“Putting Off the Natural Man

Wow what an incredible week it has been!! It has been humbling and the Lord is really teaching me to trust in Him and ACT! He did this in so many ways! First, we had a goal as a zone to teach 30 lessons this week. Our average as a companionship is 22-24 ish so it was a goal that would really help us push ourselves. By Saturday our numbers were looking about 12 lessons short and we didn’t know how we were going to do it. We spend the afternoon after church knocking on doors of people on our ward list that we didn’t know but no one answered. Feeling a little discouraged we went to dinner. Later that night we decided we were going to street contact and teach as many lessons as possible while contacting. It was really pushing it but we had the faith! in 75 minutes, we taught 9 lessons, placed 2 Books of Mormons and committed each of those amazing children of God to act on what we talked about! It was so awesome! I love being able to see the Lord’s hand work with us, to guide and direct our paths and as we really go to work, he provides us the way to touch His children’s hearts. So many times I felt that the Lord was totally holding true to his promise Open your mouths and they shall be filled…Remember they that shall have faith in me.. can.. be saved. D&C 33:8&12
I read a stellar talk by Neil A. Maxwell this week about putting off the Natural man and it was amazing to see how so much of our “Fatigue, comes from carrying that needless load. This heaviness f the natural man prevents us from doing” what the Father would have us do!  (Maxwell November Ensign 1990)    This talk gave me so much perspective because what I am doing out here on a mission is NOT for me 🙂 it is alllllllll about the people that I am so so blessed to work with. When I believe in them, and believe that they will feel the Spirit touch their hearts, it will.  I love this work. I love the feeling you get after you invite someone to taste of that is most desirable above all things 1 Nephi 11:22    The love of God is the most precious and desirable thing we could ever seek after. I love sharing that with others and helping them to grow and be converted to the Lord’s gospel!!!

I continue to see how when we have a deep motivational drive that comes from the Lord, we will not be concerned about the approval of others! I loved conference this month because it was so focused on loving God first. 🙂 Not letting fear or doubt become first and “worshiping” them. Only look up! 🙂

We have been so blessed by the Lord, we have 2 baptisims this week! Both of them are in our YSA ward and they are so amazing! Taylor and Kiera!  The Lord is hastening His work, the fields are ready to be harvested!

Sister Stegelmeier

I love being an instrument for the Lord

It’s been crazzzy! Sister Vangkue was transferred up to San Jose! So we are in a duo now! It is crazy to only be in a duo, because it has been a good 14 weeks of trio life! It is great though! We had some seriously incredible miracles happen this week! Tuesday we needed to get on the military base to meet with our investigator and it was looking like we were not going to be able to get on. So I texted all of our YSA friends and last minute one of them was free! Miracle! So we got on base, and had an amazing lesson! The Sprit was there, we invited her to be baptized and testified of the power of repentance, and she said yes! We were not expecting it, and Sister Berry replied, “wait really?” haha and she was like”ya!” so we set a date! She is super awesome 🙂 We were so excited to see her at church, but she didn’t end up coming sadly. She will be there next week hopefully though!

That same night we met up with a girl who had watched all of General Conference at the Rehacks house (Brother and Sister Rehack are so so amazing!!! Bro Rehack is in the bishopric) She began telling us her story, how she ended up investigating, and then she proposed a date for her baptism. Again, not even expected!! She had been given a BoM when she was younger by her best friend. She grew up athiest, and then one day she just began reading it. She got online with some questions about Joseph Smith, and then saw a “chat with Mormons” prompt. So she began chatting, didn’t find her answers, tried one more time, and then two missionaries offered to call her and talk to her about it. They gave her the lessons over the phone, she went to church at the military base she was at, and wanted to be baptized. So amazing!!! She has kept in contact with that friend who gave her the BoM and is going to have her skype in for the baptisim. The Lord continues to bless us with miracles as we work! It is so so amazing to see His hand directing His children.

I am so so amazed at the LOVE that our Heavenly Father has for each of us. He desires us to come to Him!! To feel the miracle of forgiveness and to repent. Because “Repentance is a divine gift, and there should be a smile on our faces when we speak of it. It points us to freedom confidence, and peace. Rather than interrupting the celebration, the gift of repentace is the cause for true celebration.” – Elder Christofferson

I love the Lord. I love that  he has made it possible for us to be freed and feel the peace and hope of the Atonement!!! I am so so grateful to be an instrument in His hands. And thus they were instruments in the hands of God in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth, yea, to the knowledge of their Redeemer. And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; and they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth. Mosiah 27:36-37

This week I have seen the changes that can happen as we come unto Christ and are healed by Him.  It is so good to help others see that!!

You all are so amazing!!!! I love you SOOOOOO much!!! I pray about you and I am so so so grateful for the package!! I love your notes! I love hearing about you! I pray about you every night my dear family! Dad! Good job on the job!! Have so much fun remodeling!! I’m bumbed that I’m missing out! haha you adventurers! Hey weston! how are you? Did you get into the playoffs? You are so so great!! 🙂 Sue, I loved your note!! Oh and thank you for the Cookies! 🙂 I love you so so much!!!!!!!

 Love always,

 Sister Stegelmeier

“Oh What a Wonderful Week”

This week has been so so so fantastic!!! I don’t even know where to start!!! So we have picked up 3 new investigators (super exciting) and we are learning so much!! We were so blessed this week! We watched General Conference, ate shwarma, went to the Oakland temple, and felt of the INCREDIBLE love of the Lord through his prophets.

Conference was amazing! I loved every bit of it. They were SO bold. I loved it!!!!! There were so so many amazing talks. One that I found particularly inspiring was Terence M. Vinson about remembering the Lord. I loved how so many of the amazing messages were about putting the Lord first and remembering him. We are to have no other Gods befor Him. There is so much power in personal study of the scriptures. I love that as we read them we not only learn and are sanctified by the Holy Spirit, but we are also are changed and we can see the Lord’s individual plan for us. He loves us. He is mighty to save and his power is there. Do we believe in it? Are we truly comitted? I am!! Yes yes yes. this is the most glorious work. We must seek every day to fortify our walls and build up those weak parts. The weakness we have are such blessings. It is truly incredible to see the Lord working miracles in the lives we come in contact with.

We have amazing members of our YSA ward that are so willing to bring their friends. As they invite the Spirit is present. Their friends feel and see of the difference in the lives of the members of the church. They stand for what is right and they live true to their covenants! Because of that so many people have a desire to meet with us and enter into the Lord’s rest! 🙂 I love monterey!! I love missionary work. I love talking to people on the streets and sharing with them. We only find those that are ready by talking to everyone! We get better at talking to people as we DO IT!! 🙂

The Lord is working his mighty work in my life and the lives His children. It is a miracle! He is with us. He goes before our face! I love Him and I LOVE to represent Him!!

Keep it up my wonderful family!!! I miss you all and Love you!!!

 Love,

Sister Stegelmeier ii

Sunny Monterey!

Mah Familliaaaa

I love you all so much!!! You are so amazing!!! I love this work, I love this area, I love my wards!!! I have been so so blessed to work here. It is gorgeous and there is so much to be done! 🙂

This has been an interesting week…. haha needless to say, we have learned a LOT about planning, acting, and loving. When we are focused on our purpose we will see success. When we are distracted or fear or let other things get in the way we are not as successful, because we are not consencrating our time! So, this week we have been finding our way around Monterey and learning/doing all we can to remember where everyone lives. Our trainer was transfered and we as a companionship have been out less than 14 weeks!! Whoohoo!!

There was Advanced Oreintation this last Friday that I went to with the other missionaries who came out with me. It was SOOOOOO good to see Sister Black and all of my MTC people! It was a very humbling meeting as a whole and we learned how important it is to be accountable. Every day. And throughout the whole day. To recall who you desire to be and keep an eternal focus! So great. Our confidence in the Lord and ourselves grows if we account. If we don’t we miss out on those blessings. Goal setting and accountabilty is so important!! 🙂

We have had another week full of miracles! This woman who we have stopped by to see like 4 times before finally let us into her house. The other times we have stopped by they either were not home, or were busy and didn’t let us in. She had been seen by missionaries before and her husband is super less active. So she has gotten all of the lessons and has been to church mutiple times so she is READY for baptisim. We were really hoping to pick her up as an investigator and were hoping that she would let us in. We didn’t know exactly what her needs were, so we were going to talk to her, feel it out, and teach her about faith. So we went and knocked praying all the while hoping that she would let us in. She came to the door and opened it and invited us in!!!! Miracles 🙂 then we talked to her about her teaching and her kids (she teaches 5th grade) and the shared a scripture Either 12:4 about how life is like being on the Ocean. She opened up to us and shared her desire to teach her kids the right principles. We invited her to come to church, and sadly she didn’t end up coming, but we are meeting with her this weekend! We have faith that she will be baptized in October!!! She is so great though!! My comps are great, we picked up a new sister who is fresh out of the MTC and waiting for her visa to Brazil. She is super sweet 🙂 and now we are back in a trio!

I love this work. I am so grateful to the Lord for his mercy and grace. It is so so important that we grow closer to our Heavenly Father and become like the Savior. We have already been Redeemed. It is now up to us to be sanctified so that we are comfortable in the Fathers presence for eternity!!! 🙂 I bear testimony of our Savior and Redeemer. I am honored to wear His name on my chest and stand as a witness of Him!!!

I love you!!! You are amazing. Keep up the wonderful work!!

 Love love love
